John Miller passed away December 21, 2020 at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. John was born June 8, 1932 on a farm in Storm Lake to Frank and Mary (Demers) Miller. He attended Providence Consolidated school for 12 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1952-1954 in the Korean War. John was married to Mary in 1955 and they enjoyed 65 years together.
He was first employed by the Quaker Oats Company in Juanita, Iowa, and then managed the elevators in Sherwood, and Alta Iowa for 12 years. Cargill purchased the Alta elevator where he continued working as an elevator and area manager for a total of 25 years. He retired in Des Moines, Iowa in 1992.
John enjoyed golfing, fishing, telling stories, and spending time with his family. He was also learning the card game Pepper with his many friends. He was devout Catholic and served as an usher for many years. He had a big heart and would help anyone in need. He was a hard worker with a great work ethic.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jim, George, and Robert, brother-in-laws Willard Christensen and William McMullen, and sister-in-laws Jan Miller and Marge Miller.
John is survived by his wife Mary, children Steve (Cheryl) Miller Chaska, MN, Robert (Helen) Miller Olathe, KS, daughter Deanna Miller St. Louis, MO, and Dave (Ann) Miller Plymouth, MN, eleven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, sister Florence Christensen, sister-in-law Marge Miller, sister-in-law Carol McMullen, and many nieces and nephews.
