Mr. John McAdam, 83, died Saturday, January 31, 2009, of injuries resulting from a car accident. He was the husband of Barbara (Fox) McAdam.
Buddy was born in Torrington on January 12, 1926, son of the late Elizabeth (Kovacs) and Edgar McAdam. While a senior in high school, he was drafted into the United States Navy and served as a tail gunner in a PBM sea plane in the Pacific during WWII. He was granted his high school diploma and, after the war, graduated from Bryant College on the GI bill. He and Barbara were married and spent 58 years together. They enjoyed traveling and camping with their children, grandchildren, and friends. Buddy worked at the Waterbury Rolling Mills and retired from the State of Connecticut Department of Education.
