John Head Caldwell, 95, of Newnan, formerly of Atlanta, widower of Sarah Ensley Hall Caldwell died Monday, June 11, 2018 at Wesley Woods Assisted Living. Born in Lawton, OK, December 14, 1922, he was a son of the late Freeman Thompson and Lila Velva Head Caldwell. Mr. Caldwell was a World War II Veteran having served in the United States Army Air Corps and was a retired Highway Engineer from the Federal Highway Administration.

Mr. Caldwell was one of five children and was preceded in death by three brothers, Carlos Freeman Caldwell, Robert Earl Caldwell and Lyle Emory Caldwell. Survivors include a son, John Freeman Caldwell and wife Susan of Sharpsburg; three grandchildren, Ensley Ann Caldwell, Elijah John Caldwell and Graham Foster Caldwell, all of Sharpsburg; a brother, James T. Caldwell of Midland, TX; two nieces, Diane “Dee” Neidlinger and Lorene Meeks and husband Paul; numerous other nieces and nephews on his wife’s side; and a special caregiver, Thelma Jones-Cheeves.
