John Harvey Joyce, 87, of 31 MacArthur Drive, Collinsville, VA died on Friday, May 18, 2012 at his residence. Born on April 11, 1925 in Collinsville, VA, he was a son of the late Mattie Morris Joyce and John William Joyce. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Helen Gilbert, Belvey Trottman, Marion Via and Lillian Johnson and brothers, James William Joyce and Eugene Blanton Joyce. Mr. Joyce was owner and operator of the J. H. Joyce Saw Mill Logging Company. He served with the U. S. Navy during World War II and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are his wife of Eden, NC, Alice Lawson Joyce; daughters, Gail Joyce Smith of Naples, FL, Vickie Joyce Pauley of Richmond, VA, Joan Joyce Turner of Patrick County, VA and June Joyce Martin of Kernersville, NC; sons, John “Steve†Joyce of Collinsville, VA and Roger W. Joyce of Franklin County, VA; 12 grandchildren and 1 step-grandchild; 11 great-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren.
