John Harrison Hundley, 89, of 1570 Wagon Trail Road, Ridgeway, VA died Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Blue Ridge Nursing Center, Stuart, VA. He was born on December 7, 1921 in Patrick County, VA to the late Henry Clay Hundley and Christina Goard Hundley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Everhart Hundley; sisters, Betty Atkinson, Elva Bullins and Mary Ruth Hazelwood and brother, Amos Hundley. Mr. Hundley was a member of Horsepasture Christian Church, Ridgeway, VA and retired from E. I. DuPont, Inc. as a mechanic. He served in the U. S. Army as a medic during World War II and was a member of the American Legion. Surviving are his daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda Layne and Rick Layne and Marie Hernandez and Jorge Hernandez all of Eden, NC, sons and daughters-in-law, Mike Hundley and Debbie Hundley of Ridgeway, VA and Brian Hundley and Dianne Hundley of Chattanooga, TN; sisters, Cassie Miller of Chester, VA and Rachel Dalton of Stuart, VA; brothers, George Hundley of Martinsville, VA and Calvin Hundley of Dorseyville, PA; grandchildren, Dean Hall, Tim Swayne, Tracy Carver, Tabiatha Watkins, Hillary Schmid, Angela Hughes and Amy Moore; step-grandchildren, Kevin Layne, Keith Layne, Amy Hankins and Bruce Pruitt and 17 great-grandchildren.
