John H. Buss, 83, of Meredosia, IL died Friday, March 13, 2020, in Prairie City.
He was born on Jan. 30, 1937, in Mt. Sterling, the son of Ralph and Alice Howard Buss. He married Colleen Woods in July of 1971 in Jacksonville and she preceded him in death on Aug. 1, 2007.
He is survived by four sons and one daughter, Rick Buss of Mt. Sterling, John C. Buss of Beardstown, Angela Sherman (Brian Hamm) of Old Monroe, Mo, Todd (Lorri) Buss of Elburn, and Brian Buss of Meredosia; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; and one sister, MaryAnne (John) Yeakel. He was preceded in death by one son, Brent Buss; one daughter-in-law, Joni Buss; two great-grandsons, Anthony Buss Sanders and Rylen Sherman; and four sisters, Jean Carpenter, Barbara Langan, Jeanette Flynn, and Dolores Sides.
Mr. Buss retired from the State of Illinois. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Mt. Sterling. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.
