John Grafton Bearry, 86, passed away Monday March 21, 2016 in Indianapolis. He was a resident of New Whiteland.
John was born on Sept. 18, 1929 in Southport to Henry C. and Georgia (Peek) Bearry
He was a graduate of Southport High School.
John was a U.S. Army Veteran.
He married Joan Wells on August 16,1952 in Colorado Springs, Colorado; they were married for 63 years.
John retired from Indiana Bell Telephone Company/AT&T after 36 years of service.
He was a member of the Whiteland Masonic Lodge No. 746, where he was a past Master. John was a huge car enthusiastic and enjoyed rebuilding and restoring all kinds of cars. He loved to attend and participate in car shows, where he won several various awards.
John is survived by his wife, Joan Bearry, two daughters, Patti A. Bearry and Susan K. Higgins and a son, John G. Bearry II, four grandchildren, Jason Lancaster, Andrea (Jeffrey) Carter, Ty (Lindsey) Higgins, and Alonia Cottrell, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert D. Bearry, and two sisters, Florence A. Plew and DeFaun M. Bearry.
