John Francis Tracy, 64, husband of Lora (Frate) Tracy of Bristol passed away on Sunday October 11, 2009 at Bristol Hospital.
John was born on January 1, 1945 in Hartford, CT a son of the late James and Catherine (Swift) Tracy.
Mr. Tracy was a United States Navy Vietnam veteran and a retired Social Studies teacher. He taught at both Bristol Central and Bristol Eastern High Schools.
John was very active within the Bristol Federation of Teachers, serving many years, first as a steward, then as vice president and upon his retirement he was a field representative. He also served several years with the B.C.O. and was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Tracy was an active member of the B.P.O.E. #1010, he ran the golf league for 19 years and for many years he was also chairman of the Scholarship Committee. He was an avid golfer and fisherman whose favorite teams were the Chicago White Sox, the New York Giants and UCONN Basketball.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Michael Humes of Simsbury; his two grandchildren, Carter and Griffin; his sister Patricia Allen of Lebanon, CT and his brother James Tracy; his aunt Margaret Skahill of West Hartford and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
