John F. Schmanski, 82, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 11:50 a.m., Thursday, February 13, 2014 in Memorial Hospital. John was born on October 19, 1931 in South Bend to John F. Schmanski, Sr. and Johanna (Kravontka) Schmanski, and was a lifelong resident. He retired in October 1993 from Miles Laboratories, where he was employed for 30 years as a Drafting Supervisor. On May 5, 1956, in Holy Cross Catholic Church, he married Frances A. Nave, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Mary (Brad Niedbalski) Schmanski of South Bend, Indiana, Jennifer (Michael) Dolphin of Park Ridge, Illinois, and Amy (Charles) Crennell of Edwardsburg, Michigan; two sons, John (Carol) Schmanski of Mishawaka, Indiana and Joseph (Gloria) Schmanski of Osceola, Indiana; ten grandchildren, John Schmanski, Michael Schmanski, Kimberly Schmanski, Lou Dolphin, Zack Dolpin, Hanna Dolphin, Casey Crennell, Camron Crennell, Conor Crennell, and Robert Niedbalski; one step-granddaughter, Jennifer Resse; one great-granddaughter, Payton; one brother, Ronald (Carolyn) Schmanske of Elkhart, Indiana; and one brother-in-law, Robert McNerney of South Bend, Indiana. John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Johanna Schmanski; and one sister, Dorothy McNerney.
