Someone once said, “Bayersdorffer rushes in where angels fear to tread!”

John Everest Bayersdorffer Jr., also known as “Jackie” and “Jack”, passed away Monday, February 15, 2021 at 11:55pm at Honor Health Osborn, Scottsdale, AZ.

Jack did not have what you might call a “normal” childhood. He moved back and forth between Chicago and New York. As a young child, he lived in musician housing in New York. He spent his evenings at whatever bar his parents happened to be playing. Always surrounded by amazing musicians and dancers, the people he met and the life he lived was truly extraordinary.

Jack’s larger-than-life personality lit up the room wherever he went. His life was an adventure and no matter what he was doing it was a party. From measuring nose sizes with Jaime Farr to meeting a French Admiral in New Orleans and somehow ending up on his French war ship drinking Absinthe, his many stories entertained new acquaintances and old friends alike.

Jack had many jobs. He played trombone in the Italian feast band. He was a bartender for many years, working and frequenting The Bulls, The Hideout, and Mecca’s just to name a few. During his tuxedo fitting years, he worked at Gingiss Formalwear. He dressed many famous names including JFK. Jack was always impeccably dressed. French cuffs were a must.

He loved all animals but especially horses. Jack had a HUGE heart. In Arizona he was a Head Honcho as a member of the Scottsdale Jaycees, charter member of Sunrise Rotary, and a member of the Verde Vaqueros. He participated in annual horse rides each spring. Everywhere you went with him, someone knew him.

Jack’s unnecessary death could have been prevented if his community had protected one another. He will be in our hearts forever.
