John E. Tyll,77

Brunswick John E. Tyll,77,of Cortland Street, died Sunday, July 3, 2005 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy after a brief illness.

Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Walter Tyll and Louise (Hartmann) Tyll.and husband of the late Marion E. Leffler Tyll.

He was born in the family home on Central Avenue in Troy and resided most of his life in Troy. He was educated at Sacred Heart School and attended Catholic Central High School.

Mr. Tyll was the co-owner and operator, with his brother Walter, of Dempsey’s Grill on Fourth Street in Troy for 40 years, retiring in 2000. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

He is survived by three daughters, Lori Conley (Frank) of Troy, Luanne Sciotti of Troy and Chris Caruso (Mike) of Maplewood; three sons, Leonard Sciotti (Jane) of Rensselaer, Dominick Sciotti of Albany and Joseph Sciotti (Shirley) of Watervliet; 9 grandchildren, Erin Conley, Gerri Molyn, Staci Hogeboom, Nicole Sciotti, Janette Ketcham, Jeffrey and Nicholas Sciotti and Michelle and Michael Caruso; several great grandchildren; cousin of Bob Reger of North Greenbush; special friends, Sheila Kordana of Troy and John Dundon III of Wynantskill, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Walter H. Tyll and his sister, Mary Ann Tyll Lussier.
