John E Ormsby of Toms River, NJ, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2021, at the age of 91.  He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Ann Ormsby and his beloved wife of 49 years, Erica, in 2008.  John will best be remembered as an extremely humble and loving husband, father and grandfather.  His greatest joy was his family and loved nothing more than being surrounded by his 4 children,13 grandchildren and great-grand daughter.

John and Erica raised their family in Pleasantville, NY.  He and Erica enjoyed their retirement when they moved to Toms River, NJ in 1991.

John was a veteran of the Korean War, stationed in Germany while serving in the US Army. He graduated in 1960 from Pace University, NYC with a BBA Degree.  John had an extremely successful career with Mobil Oil Corporation beginning as a Mailroom Clerk in 1948 and retiring as a Senior Corporate Accountant at World Headquarters, NYC in 1990. Even at the height of his career he defined himself as a “Humble Bookkeeper”.

John’s children remember him most for his devotion and sheer love and appreciation for his wife Erica.  It was a joy to observe them together as they shared experiences, stories and their sense of humor.  When Mom and Dad laughed it was hard not to join in.  He spent a good part of his retirement touring the world with Erica never taking anything for granted and was always grateful for those times of joy with his wife.

John is survived by his four children Laurie and Bill Halloran of Toms River, NJ; John and Felicia Ormsby of Lake Como, NJ; Kathleen and Frank Langr of Champlain, NY; and Susan and Jim Svarczkopf of Essex Junction, VT.  He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his 13 grandchildren and recent great granddaughter.  He also leaves behind many cherished memories of 54 years worth of family vacations to Long Beach Island, holidays, times around the table, sharing stories and family events of times gone by.
