DEFREESE, JOHN IRA, 67, died unexpectedly at his home of a massive heart attack on Friday, May, 21, 2010. He is predeceased by his parents, Sarah and Ira DeFreese and his step-father, Ray Brigham. Johnny is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sylvia Caswell; his sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Jack Parris; 2 daughters, Paige Swafford and Stephanie DeFreese and 2 grandchildren, Hannah Barnett and Hunter Coke. Johnny grew up in eastern Birmingham and had family and many friends who loved and cherished him. He loved to laugh and joke and loved 50’s music and Alabama Football. He clearly loved his family and his best friend, Boomer. He was a kind, loving, sweet and helping man who had a heart as big as all outdoors. He was one of a kind. His death has left a huge hole in the hearts of those who knew him…anyone who knew Johnny loved him. Johnny was retired from Sheet Metal Local #48 where he worked for 20 years and from Federal Express where he worked 25 years as a courier. He was presently employed part-time at Southern Diagnostics. He was a member and Deacon at Carson Road Baptist Church.
