John Cassidy, 55, of Menomonee Falls, WI passed away surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with ALS on Thursday January 20, 2011 in his home.
Beloved husband of Lynn (Gerding). Loving father of Kelsey, Kara and Conor. Dear son of Jack and Barbara Cassidy. Brother of Tom (Cindy), Kevin, Connie O’Brien and Mike. Son-in-law of Bob and the late Rosy Gerding. John attended Ottawa Township High School and graduated from Lake Forest College (Illinois). He was employed with General Electric for 15 years. Recently he fulfilled his love for teaching by joining long time friend, Andy Cerroni in his fourth grade classroom.
John was a founder, board member, vice president, and volunteer coach of the Menomonee Falls Youth Basketball Association/ Jr. Indians. He also coached Little League and Falcons/Junior Indians baseball and has been active in other community organizations. He was named First Team All-Team by the Menomonee Falls Football Program and to the Sussex Hamilton Basketball Programs All Warrior Team.
He was a recipient of the Menomonee Falls Friends of Education Award and the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association Award. John will be remembered for his love and dedication to his family, friends and community.
