Rev. John “Buddy” Cave of Trafalgar, Indiana went to be with the Lord in the early hours of the morning on Saturday, December 7, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.
John was born on May 3, 1945 to the late John Daniel Cave and Florence Lee (Shipley) Cave. He was a lifetime resident of Trafalgar Indiana, where he met and married the love of his life, Barbara (Clayburn) Cave, on March 27th, 1964 at Midway Church in Brown County, Indiana.
Though he retired from his work as a Purchaser for Eli Lilly after more than 30 years in 1993, he will be remembered most for the love he had for his family and the enjoyment he found in his membership with the American Budgerigar Association, raising birds, gardening, painting, playing the piano, riding horseback, and his care to animals of all kinds. Above all, Buddy’s love for Our Lord led him to become the pastor of multiple churches in Nashville, Indiana and the music minister at Samaria Christian Church, roles in which he touched the hearts and souls of a great multitude of people from all walks of life.
Left to cherish his memory are, the love of his life, Barbara Cave of Trafalgar, IN; his four children, Regina Betts (Doug) of Trafalgar, IN, Leah Morgan (Richard) of Valley Head, AL, Philip Cave (Sherri) of Trafalgar, IN, and John Cave (Laura) of Morgantown, IN; seven grandchildren, James Adam Betts, Brian (Leah) Betts, Courtney (Chris) Brind, Nathaniel Cave, Jessica (Dayton) Cave, John Edward Cave, and Luke Cave; three great-grandchildren, Aurora Adams, Felix Betts, and Colbie Brind; three brothers, Daniel Cave of Trafalgar, IN, Gary Cave (Winnie) of Trafalgar, IN, and Mark Cave (MaryAnn) of Piggott, AR; and his Step-Grandchildren Heath Morgan, Kelly Morgan, Toni Morgan; Step-Great-Grandchildren, Thea Owsley, Bryson Morgan, Austin Morgan, Tytan Morgan, Dylan Mathas, Ashlynn Guyton, Madison Morgan, and Ethan Goodrich.
Waiting for him at the Gates of Heaven are his parents and two brothers, Fredrick Cave and Leonard Cave.
