John Carroll Bryant, 86, of 707 Windsor Lane, Martinsville, VA, died December 18, 2009 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. He was the son of the late John Coleman Bryant and Annie Billings Bryant Dallas In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two sisters, Virginia B. Eanes and Pauline Bryant. \r\r\n \r\r\nMr. Bryant graduated from Axton High School and was attending Oak Ridge Military Academy when called to serve his country in the U.S. Army for three years during World War II. He spent 38 years in the automotive business having served as Parts and Service Manager for Richardson Wyatt Buick Co., and Service and Body Shop Manager for Riddle Olds Cadillac Corporation. He retired in 1987. He was a former member of the Exchange Club and the Knights of Pythias; he was a member of Broad Street Christian Church for over 50 years, servings as a Deacon and member of the Adult Discussion Sunday School Class. Mr. Bryant served as president of the Young Adult Sunday School Class, as a member of the Christian Men’s Fellowship, and along with his wife, was co-director of the young people for over three years. He was also a member of the Traveler’s Protective Association \r\r\n \r\r\nSurviving is his wife, Dorothy Wade Bryant, of Martinsville, VA; two sons, John Carroll Bryant, Jr. of Dallas, TX Robert James Bryant, of Martinsville, VA, two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
