John C. Hayden, 76, of West Terre Haute,
passed away April 6, 2014 in his residence after a courageous 4 1/2 year
battle with multiple illnesses. John was born January 13, 1938 in
Houston, Texas to Louis and Lillian Lawrence Hayden. John shared his
lifelong fascination with Science through being a Middle-School
Science Teacher for more than 32 years. During his tenure, he spent
one year at Paris Middle School in Paris, Illinois,
18 years at Marshall Junior High School in Marshall,
Illinois, and 13 years at West Vigo Middle School in West Terre Haute.
John served for six years as a Military Police Sergeant in the
United States Air Force, where he received distinguished awards such
as,
Small Arms Marksmanship, and SKT Achievement Awards . John graduated
from Concannon High School in 1955 and then attended Indiana
State Teacher’s College where he received his bachelor’s degree
in Biological Sciences and was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon
Fraternity.
