John Hubert Butler was born November 10, 1920 in Silverton, Oregon to Henry and Josephine Butler. John grew up in Bay City, Oregon and Longview, Washington where he learned a love of fishing and aviation. In World War II, he enlisted as a Navy aviator and served in both European and Pacific theaters.
After the war, he flew with General Chennault’s Flying Tiger Airline and flew some of the last nationals out of China. After his return to the United States, he completed his education at the University of Washington, earning a degree in Math and Physics. He was a dynamic individual who found his passion in building, both commercial and residential.
He is survived by his beloved family: his wife of 40 years, Mary Lou Butler; his children, Johnny, Dennis, Martha, Karen and Kristy. He was blessed with six grandchildren, Izaak, Jessie, Tyler, Jorgen, Josephine, and Karsten; His three great-grandchildren, Lilly, Eloise and Leo also brought him great joy. He also has many nephews, nieces and great-nephews and nieces.
John is preceded by his parents, as well as his siblings, Richard, Betty, Roger, Marian, Elaine and Martha, as well as his brother and sister-in-laws.
