John Arthur Trevillian, 78, of Freeport died Dec. 8, 2005, at Wesley Willows Health Center in Rockford after a short illness.

Son of John A. and Mary A. (Welfelt) Trevillian, he was born Jan. 11, 1927, in Freeport. John and Dorothy L. Hepfer were married June 24, 1949, in Peoria. She died Jan. 25, 1985.He received his preliminary education in the Freeport school system and graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a B.S. degree in accountancy and management in June 1949.Mr. Trevillian was employed by the W.T. Rawleigh Company as a staff accountant in June 1949. He progressed to being an internal auditor, manager of the cost accounting department, manager of the entire accounting department, and culminated his career by becoming the Secretary-Controller of the U.S., Canadian, New Zealand and Australian Rawleigh companies. He retired in the winter of 1986.He enjoyed hunting, fishing at his cottage in Wisconsin and golfing at Park Hills Golf Course .Mr. Trevillian was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Freeport and the Stephenson County Antique Engine Club, where he established three rooms of memorabilia of the W.T. Rawleigh Company. For many years, he was a volunteer at Freeport Memorial Hospital.

Surviving are four daughters, Carol A. (Edwin) McKnight-Foster of Rockford, Mary A. Trevillian of Rockford, Barbara L. (Danny) Bose of Rochester, Ind., and Karen S. Trevillian of Palatine; one sister, Lavon Stefani of DeKalb; two granddaughters, Megan and Kathren McKnight; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death besides his wife were his parents and one sister, Mary.
