John Andrew Hartman was born to Andrew “George” and Betty Lou Hughes Hartman on May 30, 1945 in Emmett, Idaho.
He attended school in Emmett and graduated in May, 1963. He married Karen Newman in October, 1962. They had three children: Craig, Chris, and Lisa. They divorced in June, 1975.
In December of that same year he met Lorna Abrell at a dance in Boise. They were married in Reno, Nevada on March 18, 1978.
John worked in the hayfields and fruit orchards as a teen. In July of 1963 he followed in his fathers and grandfathers footprints and started working at the Boise Cascade Mill. He worked there until he retired in June, 2001. John always said, “He was too light for heavy work and too heavy for light work”. Retirement suited him “Just Fine”.
He is survived by his wife, Lorna; sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Bertha, Chris and Marilyn; daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Steve Campbell and Jeanie and Aaron Poole; grandchildren, Michelle (Justin) Gast, Melissa Hartman, Amber (Charles) Buchanan, Alex Shipp, Lane Poole, Parker Hartman and six great grandchildren Donovan, Charles Jr., Alexis, Gabe, William and Charlotte; a sister-in-law Daryleen McMillan, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marie Hartman Loree.
