John A. Peterson, age 87, formerly of Elmhurst and Las Vegas, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Avantara in Elgin.
He was born December 10, 1934, in Chicago, the son of Alvar and Gertrude Bourgeois Peterson.
John (Jack) enjoyed playing cards, swimming, watching baseball and loved watching the Chicago Blackhawks. Jack was in a family business, Pete’s Meats, working with his brother and nephews. Jack celebrated 60 years of sobriety on September 5, 2022. He was an active and caring sponsor to 100+ members of AA (Alcoholics Anonymous).
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Jim and Bob, Sarah’s mother Marla Richardson; and his wife Marion who passed away in 1984.
