Details: John A. Mearman, 76 a lifelong resident of Millersville died on July 26, 2015 at John Hopkins Medical Center. He was born on March 1, 1939 in Millersville, MD to the late Carl and Catherine Mearman. Mr. Mearman served his apprenticeship as a machinist and then worked at Maryland Shipbuilding from 1957 until 1966. From 1966 to 1980 he worked for the Naval Ship Research and Development in Annapolis. He began working for the US Department of Commerce in 1980 and retired in 2001 as the Director of International Trade Administration – for Machinery Division. Mr. Mearman was a member of Pasadena United Methodist Church and Lost in the 50’s car club. He was a volunteer firefighter for Lombardee Beach from the late 50’s to the early 1960’s. Mr. Mearman served as the Scout Master for Troop 346 at Pasadena United Methodist Church from 1972 until 1986. His hobbies included yardwork, building model ships and playing guitar. In addition to his parents Mr. Mearman is preceded in death by his first wife of 39 years, Vivian Mearman and his brother Joseph Mearman. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Sandra A. Mearman, his sons John A. Mearman, Jr. and his wife Barbara and David B. Mearman and his wife Robin all of Millersville, his step-daughter Robyn A. Swart of Sudlersville, his grandchildren John III, Kerri, Jacqueline, Rosemary, Brandy, Amelia, Justin, and Jacob, and 7 great grandchildren.
