Johanna Rose Valento-Knob died unexpectedly in her home in Boerne, Texas on December 13, 2017 at the age of 65. Johanna was born on March 1, 1952 in West Mahoney, Pennsylvania to Joseph S. Valento and Anna Rutkowski.
She is survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as her former spouse and best friend Steven Knob. Johanna is preceded in death by her father, Joseph and her mother, Anna. The family would like to express their gratitude towards all of those who have opened their hearts and homes to Johanna.
Johanna graduated from Cardinal Brennan high school in 1970. She continued her education at the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown, New Jersey and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1974.
Johanna was an ambitious, hardworking woman. Some of her career achievements include attaining the position as the Comptroller of the Currency with the United States Department of Commerce in Washington D.C. and in Philadelphia, as well as Vice President of Meridian Bank in Reading, Pennsylvania.
Johanna perfected her marketing and customer service skills while working as a partner at the Wooden Knob Antiques store in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania and for the American Automobile Association in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with close friends and family members.
After spending most of her life living on the East Coast, Johanna opted for a change of pace and looked forward to beginning a second chapter of her life in Texas. She relocated to San Antonio in 2009. Johanna worked in retail at La Cantera Mall for William Sonoma, Victoria’s Secret, and The Chocolate Factory. She also worked for Calico Corner at the Quarry Mall, Pier One at the Huebner Oaks Mall and Epicure in Boerne, Texas.
Johanna had a vivacious spirit and was loved by many. She loved life and loved to learn new things. She paid attention to detail, whether it be in the interest and needs of her friends and family or in the many projects and life goals she continued to pursue. As an active community member, she had a great personality and was a delight to be around. Johanna made every one of her friends and family feel special and unique. Her friends, family, and colleagues describe her as genuine, reliable, and compassionate.
