Joelene is a Muncie Central High School graduate and married Bennie Barton on September 11, 1971, in Tennessee, and he preceded her in death on April 8, 2011. Mrs. Barton had been a homemaker. She was a former member of the Moose Lodge, loved animals, especially cats, enjoyed both skating and fishing. Joelene was an avid sports fan, mainly auto racing and baseball which she enjoyed watching with her husband. Family times with her grandchildren and great grandchildren were special to her.
Survivors’ include, two daughters, Tammy Sandoe (husband-Henry, Jr.), Muncie and Nara Manor (husband-Ronnie), Selma; one son, Clifford Bodenhafer, Austin, Texas; eight grandchildren (Tessa, Angie, Scott, Brett, Rob, Chris, Michelle, Stephanie and Michael; seven great grandchildren; one brother, T.C. (Jack) Heatherly, Muncie; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband of 40 years, Bennie, she is preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, Phillip, Coy, Roy, Doc, Eugene and Wallace; one sister, Gladys; one grandson, Michael.
