Joe Ellis Loy, 74, of Gibsonville passed away peacefully into the loving arms of Christ on Thursday, January 12, 2017 after many years of failing health and pain.

A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of 24 years to Margaret Ann Loy, who survives and the son of Tom Lee Loy and Kate Patterson Loy, both deceased. Mr. Loy was a former commercial construction superintendent. He always stated, “Show me the plans, I can build it”, and he could. He was of the Christian faith and attended Harvest Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Cynthia Miller and husband Robert; sons, Joe Keith Loy and wife Sandra and Jason Earl Loy and fiancée Jen; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The last years of his life were spent loving and enjoying his grandchildren, Connor and Brynlee Hopkins. He was grateful to have Nita and Buffy Hopkins; brother-in-law, Lynn White; step-son, Todd Allen Hopkins and wife Carolyn; adopted son, Tim Twitty and wife Lenore; and friend, Janet Stiffler to spend time with. He had a special love for sister-in-law, Juanita Messervey and mother-in-law, Lanelle Kennedy. Mr. Loy was especially close to his step-son, Kevin Hopkins who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Patricia W. Loy.
