Joe Donald GreerDon Greer, age 84, of Centralia, passed away Friday, January 16, 2015, in Champaign. Don was born February 28, 1930, in Mt. Vernon, son of Rev. James Clarence (J.C.) Greer and Myrtle (Gowler) Greer.

He married Edith (Phillips) on June 6, 1950, at Zion Hill Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, Don is survived by three daughters, Karen Sue Bourne and husband Marshall of Fisher, Mary Jo Wheatley of Fisher and Jane Ann Greer of St. Joseph, adopted daughters Jennifer and Megan Nigg of Fisher, and Barb Babb of St. Joseph, 6 grandchildren Chad Wheatley and wife Kristin of Arnold, MO, Matthew Bourne and wife Amanda Bourne of Indianapolis, IN, Jason Wheatley and wife Megan of St. Joseph, A.J. Bourne, Champaign, Jackson and Kennedy Greer of St. Joseph, great-grandchildren Reese and Raegan Wheatley, brother in law George Dooms of Evansville, IN, several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Betty Rapp and husband Ralph, sister Mary Dooms, and brother James Greer, Jr., and wife Udene. Don served in the U.S. Army, for 2 years in Germany. He worked for Brake Well Service as a bookkeeper. He was a Deacon at Zion Hill Baptist Church, enjoyed model trains, quilting, avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and also a fan of Illini Basketball.
