Joe B. Burford, 94 of Pleasant Hill, New Mexico, went to be with his Lord and Savior, December 23, 2014, at Farwell Convalescence Center, Farwell, Texas with his family at his side.
He was born February 8, 1920 in Lamb County Texas to Walter O. Burford and Willie Parker. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, granddad, great granddad, and mentor to all that knew him. He had a strong appreciation and love for life. He was very devoted to his church and his mens bible class at church.
He married his high school sweetheart, Geraldine Donahey, in January 10, 1942. He was shortly thereafter drafted into the army, where he served in the Pacific Theater for the duration of the war, despite being wounded several times. After wars end, and having received the rank of Staff Sargent, he was honorably discharged. He then resumed farming and ranching in the Pleasant Hill Community, working side by side with his wife. He was recognized for his farming and ranching achievements having won many trips and awards for his outstanding crop yields.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ferrell Burford, Parker Burford, Garland Burford, Wayne Burford, Robert Burford, son Johnny Burford, and a grandson Adam Burford.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Geraldine Burford of Farwell Convalescence Center, Farwell, Texas, son James Burford, Pleasant Hill, grandchildren Lindsey Burford, Clovis, Ross Leeanne Burford, Yukon Oklahoma, great grandchildren, Katlin and Abby Burford and one due any time, many nephews, nieces, and friends.
