JoAnne Hoover, age 94 of Titonka, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at the Titonka Care Center. JoAnne Hoover, the daughter of Stanley E. and Rae (Lang) Harris, was born on September 25, 1926 in Oelwein, Iowa. The family moved to Cedar Falls when she was 2 years old. She began preschool at Iowa State Teacher’s College when she was 2 1/2 and continued at the College School, graduating in 1944. She completed 3 1/2 years of college, then moved to Titonka and taught for 2 years (Home Ec and Business classes) on an emergency certificate, just lacking student teaching. She was united in marriage to Ted Hoover Jr. on May 23, 1949 at the Titonka Methodist Church. JoAnne was a devoted wife, mother and teacher. When the children were nearly grown, she became a GED teacher with Iowa Lakes Community College; teaching in Titonka, Bancroft and Algona. JoAnne was a member of Titonka United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and was a Sunday School Teacher. She was also a member of the Order of Rainbow for girls, Order of Eastern Star, a 4-H leader, active in the Cancer Society, and enjoyed the bowling league. She and Ted were in a neighborhood card club. She enjoyed hand quilting, playing golf, and attending activities of her children and grandchildren. JoAnne is survived by her children, Sandy Hoover of Algona, Ted S. Hoover (late Janice) of Burt, Terry Hoover (Lynne) of Algona and Conna (Craig) Roesler of Waseca, Minnesota; grandchildren, Ben (Lindsay) Roesler, Colette (Andre) Davis, Heather (Justin) DeJong, Brandon (Jackie) Hoover, Ryan (Jayna) Hoover and Brad (Brittany) Hoover; eight great grandchildren; nephew Scott (Patty) Harris, Gary (Marilyn) Hoover, Kent (Donna) Hoover, Kevin (Dee) Hoover and many nieces and nephews from the Hoover family. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Roger (Shirley) Harris; grandson, Chad Hoover and daughter-in-law, Janice Hoover.
