Our beloved Joanne departed this life suddenly on Saturday, May 3rd after 62 years of caring, giving and loving to every one and every thing she happened to come across. She loved and respected all people and all living things. Anyone lucky enough to have met her, or even better, to have known her well, was indeed blessed. Joanne was born in New Britain, CT to the late Marisa Milovich and Antonio Domingos. She would often describe those early days, at the Pasco Hill Farm in Berlin and her days on Cedar Street in Middletown, as some of her fondest, as these were the times that her mom, dad and sister, Geri, were all still together. She lived many years in Cromwell, where as a devoted mother to Susan and David she worked very hard to juggle the responsibilities of raising her family, earning a living, and pursing her education ambitions. Protecting and nurturing her family always came first to Joanne. However, her love of learning, knowledge and her dogged pursuit of a formal education was a close second. In 1980, she went on to proudly achieve her R.N. from the University of Bridgeport, graduating magna cum laude. Her nursing career spanned several hospitals including Middlesex, Hartford, Elmcrest and Connecticut Valley. She was quite proud to have risen to the role of Nurse Clinical Instructor. She was well known and highly regarded as a thoughtful and inspiring leader. In recent years, after retiring from nursing, one of Joanne’s passions became the hunt and discovery of unappreciated things – she was an antiques and collectables aficionado with a burning desire to find and appreciate that diamond-in-the rough. Her favorite time of year was always when the surrounding towns like Portland and others, would wake up from winter to hold their town-wide tag sales.
