Joanna L. Manis, 73, of McCordsville, passed away September 8, 2012 at home. She was born on April 2, 1939 to the late Robert and Ermyl (Rhoades) Werking in New Castle.
She graduated from the old New Lisbon High School and then went to work for American, Eastern and Lake Central Airlines as a teletypist. Mrs. Manis worked for Lawrence MSD for 36 years as a lunch clerk, both at Craig Middle School and Indian Creek Elementary. She was also a member of Fortville Christian Church and loved to read. Joanna is survived by her husband Bill R. Manis; son Cary Manis of Fortville; daughter Dianna (David) McCarty of McCordsville; four grandchildren; and brothers: Robert (Ruth) Werking of Marion; Charles (Phyllis) Werking of Straughn; Daniel (Pat) Werking of Santa Claus; and Mark (Linda) Werking of Hagerstown.
