JoAnn Marie Falsetti Hansen was born on June 12, 1935 to Louise and Frank Falsetti in Fresno, California. She married James Myron Pettit on September 19, 1953 and gave birth to Myron Frank Pettit on October 19, 1954. Joann had a second child, James Nelson Pettit on December 9, 1956.
JoAnn had a difficult youth, being in foster homes and group homes much of the time. She eventually divorced her first husband and married Rodney Leon Hansen on January 15, 1983. Rod and JoAnn had many beautiful years together. Rod shared JoAnn’s love of horse and they spent most of their time at their home in Clinton, Utah, riding, racing and sharing their love of horses with their grandchildren.
Joann was always free-spirited and tried out for the TV reality show “Survivor” multiple times. On a cruise to Alaska when Joann was about 75 years old, JoAnn and Rod both did the “zipline” with her grandson David. Everyone on the ship was amazed at JoAnn’s abilities and wondered if she was in fact David’ s mother rather than his grandmother. However, grandchildren’s memories included especially the horses, which seemed the focus of Rod’s and JoAnn’s lives together.
JoAnn Marie Falsetti Hansen passed away peacefully on May 8, 2019. She is survived by her husband Rod Hansen as well as her son Myron Frank Pettit, who is married to Rebecka Abbott Pettit. Their children include Robert Zachary Pettit married to Kimberly McDowell Pettit: Joshua Frank Pettit, Jared Daniel Pettit, and David Thomas Pettit. She is also survived by her sister, Charlotte Giese (Falsetti), her half brother, Michael Falsetti, half sister, Dianna Loeffers (Falsetti).
JoAnn’s second son, James Nelson Pettit Died in 2016, but is survived by his wife Ruth Osborn Pettit, as well as sons, Christian Pettit and his wife Keri April Pettit and Jason Pettit and his wife Patricia Kirkman Pettit.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Marshal Falsetti and Frank Falsetti.
Great grandchildren number 11. Great grandchildren: Justin, Tristen, Braxton, Bridger, Camden, Carter, Orion, Aubrey, Cheyenne, Juniper and Colton.
