Passed way February 4, 2015, surrounded by her children. Joan was born in Evanston, IL to Marie Chamberlain Edwards and Howard “H.B.” Edwards who both preceded her in death. She is survived by her brother, George Edwards, half-siblings; James Edwards, Thomas Edwards, Kathleen O’Reilly and Jay Julian; her four children; William Scoins, Brian Scoins, Marie Reed, James Scoins and his wife Maria Scoins. Joan was immensely proud of her five grandchildren; William Scoins, Collin and Bailey Reed, Jacob Scoins and Ryan Scoins. Joan grew up in Northbrook, IL, which she always remembered so fondly. She raised her family in Scottsdale, AZ; and then in Fort Wayne, IN, but ultimately came back to Arizona. Joan worked for the State of Arizona; first in the Department of Economic Security and then in the Department of Education. She was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. Joan was a fiercely independent, strong and loving woman who will be missed by all.
