Joan Hutchens of Waldron, Arkansas went to be with her Lord and Savior, Monday, June 25, 2018 in Waldron, Arkansas surrounded by her loving family. Joan was born April 2, 1941 in Columbus, Kansas to Carl Rice and Louise (Wahler) Rice. She was 77 years old. Joan was a longtime member of Unity Baptist Church at Lake Hinkle, Arkansas. She was actively involved in the church and served in many areas. She was a faithful woman of God and lived by example.
Joan was the owner and operator of the Donut House for many years. She later went to work and retired from Tyson Foods in Waldron. Joan was a kind, soft spoken and caring woman. She was precious in her spirit and the way she handled every situation with grace and poise. She crafted porcelain dolls. She loved sewing and she looked forward to going out to eat. She especially had a good time when she would travel with her husband Bill. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them and being around her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Joan leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband Bill of the home, two daughters, Carrie Hattabaugh and husband James of Booth, Arkansas and Terrina Lawson of Jenny Lind, Arkansas, and two step sons: Donnie Hutchens and Spanky Hutchens, as well as one brother, Jim Rice of California. Goggy, aka Granny Joan, will forever remain in the hearts of her grandchildren: Maverick Lawson, Sasha Lawson, Misty Horn, Jasmine Smith, Sam Hutchens, Lori Kelley, Jessica Butler and many great grandchildren. Joan will be missed by all that knew her and the many whose lives she impacted including an extended family of friends, neighbors, and loved ones dear to her heart.
Joan was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Graham and her first husband, Johnny Ray Graham.
