Joan lived life to the fullest to the very end and was an active Grandmother and GG. She was always present at sporting events, dance recitals, music programs, plays, honor assemblies and celebrations. Those children filled her life with pride and joy. A devout Catholic she was a former member of St. Mary’s Parish and currently Corpus Christi (Holy Trinity) Parish. Joan lived a purpose filled life and devoted her entire life to helping others. She was also an avid golfer and was on a league until last summer. She was fiercely independent and drove and lived on her own until this past December. Joan’s involvement in the area Catholic community was legendary and included Saginaw Diocese Lay Minister, St. Mary’s Altar Society, St. Vincent DePaul Society, Parish Secretary, Director of Religious Education, Grief Recovery Facilitator, K of C Auxiliary and Parish Choirs. She was also a member of Bay Chorale having gone on their trip to Paris when she was 80. The organization near and dear to her heart was the creation of Religious Education for children with special challenges. Her heart and soul went into making sure those children had a special relationship with God. In death as in life, Joan gives to others. She has donated her body to the University of Michigan Medical Center to enhance education and give quality of life to others. They will be amazed at the condition of that perfect, petite Irish woman.
