On July 3, 2015, Joan, 88, was called home to the Lord’s waiting arms. Joan was born to William & Lillian Hanson on October 21, 1926 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was the middle of three children. Joan married John W. Dietrich on May 20, 1949 and moved to Stevensville, Michigan in January 1952. Joan was a volunteer at Memorial Hospital in Saint Joseph, Michigan for more than 10 years. They lived in Stevensville until 2009, when they moved to Penrose, Colorado to be closer to their children & granddaughter. Joan & John were very social and loved to entertain in their home. They also spent much time traveling the world and many summers at their cabin in Curtis, Michigan. Joan will be remembered for her unconditional love, caring nature, sense of humor and quick wit. She adored her kitty cats, helped John complete the crossword puzzle every morning and listening to classical music. Joan is preceded in death by her parents, William & Lillian Hanson; and brother, William. Joan is survived by her husband, John; son, William; daughter, Barbara; granddaughter, Amy Holcomb (Josh); sister, Marjorie Lilly; and many nieces and nephews.
