On September 4, 2022, Joan Flagler Poladian, a beloved mother, sister, and aunt, passed away. She was 88 years old. Born to Chester and Martha Flagler in Raubsville, PA, Joan graduated from Easton High School at the age of sixteen and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts from Syracuse University and a Master of Fine Arts from Columbia University. She taught school in Leonia, NJ, and became the art supervisor at Stroud Union school district in Stroudsburg, PA. She moved to Virginia after marrying her husband, J. Harry Poladian, Jr., now deceased.

Joan was best known for her generous spirit which started early in life when she joined the Rainbow Girls at the age of fourteen. After moving to Virginia, she became a volunteer at the St. Agnes School for Girls and the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra helping raise money for both organizations.

She is survived by her daughter, Joann Flagler Poladian, and her sister, Shirley Marie Flagler, and her nieces and nephews.
