Joan E. (Faretra) Marchand, 74, of Upton, passed peacefully with family by her side in Milford Regional Medical Center on November 3, 2013 after a long illness. She was the wife of retired Upton Police Chief Rodney B. Marchand.
Mrs. Marchand was born in Natick, the daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine (Cotter) Faretra, and was a 1957 graduate of Natick High School. She had lived in Upton for 50 years. She worked as a telephone operator for more than 30 years, retiring in 1995.
In addition to her husband of 53 years, she leaves two sons, Michael Marchand and his wife Patricia of Upton, and Paul Marchand of Natick; two grandchildren, Lauren Marchand of Northbridge, and Shaun Marchand of Upton; and two great-grandchildren, Trevor and Alexis.
