Berger, Joan D. (Barsh) Joan D. Berger of New Milford, CT and Clearwater, FL. Devoted wife, loving mother and cherished grandmother, Joan died peacefully at home on October 27, 2012 enveloped in the love of her family. Born on March 22, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the eldest daughter of Abraham and Pauline Barsh. She graduated from Midwood High School and worked at Life Magazine for 3 years. She married her beloved husband Bill in 1948 and their love affair endured for over 64 years. After having 3 children, her family became her life’s work. She particularly relished being a grandmother. She loved to entertain family and friends, was known for her elegant holiday table settings and always had a stash of Hershey Kisses in the freezer. She was very stylish and only missed her weekly hair appointment when she was too sick to go. Joan was addicted to reading the daily newspapers, loved the heyday of WOR talk radio, enjoyed her Saturday bridge group and was the only golfer in the family to have achieved 2 holes in one.
