Jo Ann “Big J” Monken, 75, of O’Fallon, IL, born November 2, 1937 in Breese, IL, died Friday, February 22, 2013 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL. Jo had been a school secretary for many years at Central High School in Breese and was currently a personal assistant for the Office of Rehabilitation Services. She enjoyed her IPad, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, and playing penny slots at the Casino Queen. But, above all, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded by her husband William Lee Monken, parents, Erwin and Anna, nee Baumgartner, Hostmeyer and a brother Michael Hostmeyer. Jo is survived by 5 daughters, Victoria Monken, Cheryl (Dan) Timmermann, Michelle Monken, all of O’Fallon, IL, Joellen (Richard) Arnold of Shipman, IL, Stephanie Riley of O’Fallon, IL, 10 grandchildren, Tiffany (Adam) Kasick, Brent (Patti) Kreke, Adam (Shannon) Timmermann, Ashley Timmermann, Lucas Wessel, Richard Keen, Daniel Keen, Dane Arnold, Patrick Riley, and Joseph Riley, 2 great grandchildren, Kaley Kasick, Peyton Kreke, a sister-in-law Joann Hostmeyer of Boulder, IL, numerous nieces and nephews, and her beloved Bubbas, Zoey and Jackson.
