Jimmy Lee Farris

Jimmy Lee Farris of Sheridan, Arkansas was born February 28, 1951, in Little Rock, Arkansas the son of Edward Lee Farris and the late Helen Lucille Ellis Farris. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son.

Mr. Farris died at his home from a battle with cancer at the age of 59.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charlie and Delilah Ellis and Sam and Edna Farris.

Survivors: Wife, Debra Lee Treadway Farris of Sheridan; Two daughters, Jennifer Hicks and husband David of Auburn, Nebraska and Shannon Pumphrey and husband Mark of Prattsville; Five grandchildren: Alanna and Briar Pumphrey and Logan, Asher, and Ethan Hicks; Brothers, Charles Farris of Little Rock; Bobby Farris of Scottland; and David Farris of Jacksonville.

Jim had a multifarious career that included working on an oil rig, a shrimp boat, and for Barnam and Bailey Circus. He began working in the floor covering business, working his way up to owner of Arkansas Discount Carpet. Jim was founder and President of Jesco International. Jim loved tinkering with mechanics. He invented and patented the “twist-handle ratchet” which was marketed across the United States in mechanic stores and K-Mart stores . Jim later worked as a truck driver and retired from International Paper Company.

Jim’s favorite pastime was spending time with his children and grandchildren, who loved him dearly. He was a regular on their field trips and ball games.
