Jimmie D. Summit, 78, of Bloomington, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2014 at I.U. Health Hospice House. Born, May 21, 1936 in Bloomington, he was the son of James A. Summitt and Frances (Stewart) Cowden. Jimmie retired from Aramark Corporation after 35 years of employment and he attended the Highland Village Church of Christ.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who enjoyed fishing, traveling and most of all spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Barbara (Miller) Summitt, two daughters, Deborah D. Brown (Ben) of Belleville, IL, Cathy S. Wilson (Brian) of Bloomington, two sons, Perry T. Summitt of Bloomington, Gary K. Summitt (Tammy) of Bloomfield, daughter-in-law, Dana Summitt of Bloomington, grandchildren, Carrie Johnson (Brian), Katie Mehochko (Guy), Sarah Wilson, Matthew Wilson, Jacqueline McGlothlin (Brian), Wesley Summitt, Samuel Summitt, Zachary Summitt, Jason Fields and 10 great-grandchildren.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, his son, James Michael Summitt and his loving aunt and uncle, Jesse and Rose Fox, who took over parenting for Jimmie after the death of his mother.
