Jimmie L. “Jim” Dunkin, the son of Ethel (Cline) and Art Dunkin was born November 15, 1940 at Hamlet, Nebraska. He departed this life peacefully at his home north of Red Cloud on Tueday, June 27, 2017 at the age of 76 years, 7 months and 12 days.

​Jim spent most of his childhood years in the Riverton community and graduated from the Riverton High School. He moved to Phoenix, Arizona for a short time and then enlisted in the United States Air Force. Jim served his country for four years and following his discharge he returned to Arizona. He later returned to south central Nebraska and was united in marriage with Kylie Latta on July 19, 1964 at the United Methodist Church in Red Cloud.  Jim was employed with various construction work while they resided in Colorado from 1979-1990. They returned to the Red Cloud area where he continued to work as a carpenter until his retirement.  In his leisure time he enjoyed attending sporting events and especially cherished time spent with family and friends.

​Preceding him in death were his parents and three brothers, Delwyn, Don and Jon Dunkin.

​Left to treasure his memory are his wife, Kylie Dunkin of Red Cloud, Nebraska;  daughters, Deanna Shipman and husband Monte of Juniata, Nebaska, and Lynnette Dunkin of Las Vegas, Nevada; two grandsons, Dustin and Drew Reed; four sisters, Betty Vollertsen, Shirley Hansen and Kay Braden all of Arizona and Connie Gipson of San Diego, California; three brothers, Gary Dunkin of California, Bill Dunkin and wife Judy of Arizona and Jack Dunkin of Oregon; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
