Jim Fuller, 67, of Algona, passed away on May 12, 2017 at his home. James E. Fuller, the son of Marshall and Charming (Thomas) Fuller, was born on November 14, 1949 just south of Marshalltown, Iowa. He graduated from SEMCO High School in 1967 and attended Marshalltown Community College for 2 years. Jim served in the Iowa Army National Guard from 1970-76. Jim married Melinda Meling in 1969 and they had two children, Chad and Amy. They were divorced in 1980.
On April 17, 1998 Jim was united in marriage with Lisa (Smith) Monson in Santa Anna, California. Jim worked for Gulf Central Pipeline in various positions from 1970-94. In 1994 he moved to Algona as a plant manager. He then had a Des Moines Register distributorship for a number of years. Jim later had contracts with the State of Iowa for maintaining rest areas and weigh stations, did lawn care and operated a can redemption center. From 2002-06 he worked with siding claims service. He loved sports and attended 90% of his grandkids sporting events and probably drove 100,000 miles making them. Jim was a member of A.A. and enjoyed going to Casino’s all over the country. He also enjoyed Iowa football, Iowa State basketball, making home improvements and lawn care.
Left to cherish Jim’s memory is his wife of 19 years, Lisa; children, Chad (Amy) Fuller of Bondurant, Amy Fuller of Bullhead City, AZ, David (Erica) Monson of Urbandale, Abby Monson of Algona and Donnie Monson of Algona; grandchildren, Megan, Drake, Claire, Perry and Presley; his mother, Charming Bennethum of Marshalltown; sisters, Sandi (Allen) Miller of Marshalltown and Judy (Mike) Fry of Laughlin, NV; and special friends Tom and Cheryl Ricklefs of Spirit Lake.
