Jesus H. Sanchez Uribe passed away after a long hard-fought battle with cancer. He was a strong, dependable, and genuine man. Having journeyed to California in 1973 (first landing in Los Angeles and then San Francisco) more than 48 years ago, Jesus possessed a strong ambition to build. Since his arrival, he has built up his own landscaping business. Husband and father to three sons, he never stopped providing for his family and ensuring that they would have fruitful futures. Known as “Chuy” or “Churin” to friends and loved ones, he always brought a very warm presence with his voice and laughter wherever he went.

He loved horses and many aspects of farm life. In his spare time, he would often be horseback riding. A musical fanatic as well, his collection consisted of many Rancheras including songs by Vicente Fernandez and Antonio Aguilar. His favorite foods included fresh Jocoque and Carne Asada.

Jesus was born in the small town of Mixtlan, Jalisco, Mexico. When at 5th grade decided to give up schooling to help with his family’s dairy farm (he was the son of Manuel Sanchez Curiel, a humble farmer, and Crispina Sanchez Uribe, a proud mother of fourteen). Soon after becoming an adult he came to the United States and married his wife. They settled in Oakland, California where Jesus worked tirelessly to be able to afford his own home. After working in every aspect at various companies ranging from Rain Bird (a sprinkler company), Rod McClellan Orchid Nursery with his older brother, Sebastian Sanchez, and BrightView Landscaping, he finally started his own landscaping business. He managed to mentor all his siblings and immediate family.
