Mr. Jesse Perry Gathings, 80, a resident fo 308 Guilford Ave., died Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at High Point Regional Hospital.
Mr. Gathings was born August 5, 1924 in Chesterfield, S.C., a son of Will Watkins and Larcia Gathings, who both preceded him in death. For the past five years he was a resident of High Point, where he was employed as a security guard. He was a member of Baldwin’s Chapel Seventh Day Adventist Church, where he was a member of the sanctuary choir and the Sabbath School. Two sons, Wayne and Kenneth Gathings, preceded him in death.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Alicia Gilmore Gathings of the home; five sons, Joseph Gathings of Charlotte, Jerome Gathings, Marvin “Perry” Gathings, both of Winston Salem, Timothy Gathings of Rock Hill, S.C., and Tracey Gathings of Greensboro; six daughters, Gwendolyn Medley & husband, Joe, of Huntersville, Loria Gathings fo Myrtle Beach, S.C., Belinda Gathings, Gloria Gathings, both of Winston Salem, Janice Gathings of High Point, and Vickie Millsap & husband, Douglas, of Charlotte; 36 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Viola McCain of Charlotte, and Doretha Ingram of New York, N.Y.; other relatives and friends.
