Jesse L. McCormack, age 83 of Valparaiso, passed away August 9, 2010. Born in Vandalia, Missouri, he moved to East Chicago at the age of nine.

He graduated from Washington High School in January 1945. He served in the U.S. Navy from July 1945 to August 1946 (USS Bunker Hill) and again from July of 1950 to August 1951 (USS Delta). He married and moved to Black Oak after high school, and in 1963 moved to Porter County. He was employed at Inland Steel as a Wireman and Foreman for 31 years, retiring in February 1977.

After retirement, he worked at Shellbourne for 15 years. He will be remembered as a master craftsman for many family and friends. He was always generous with his time and helpful to others. He was in good spirits and maintained his sense of humor to the end.

Preceded in death by His Father: Jesse W.R. McCormack and His Mother Carrie Griffith. Survivors include His Wife Dorothy Norrick, (married in 1945), two brothers: Eddie McCormack of Yardley, PA, and Alde McCormack of Hobart, IN, three sons: Jesse of Jacksonville, FL, David of Valparaiso, and Neil of Orleans, IN, eleven grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.
