Muncie-Jerry L.

Mr. Branson is a 1949 graduate of Royerton High School where he had been an outstanding athlete.  He had been the Captain of both the Basketball and Baseball teams.  Jerry was the first man in Delaware County to ever sign a professional sports contract.  Mr. Branson had been recruited by the Cincinnati Reds Baseball organization to play for their minor league team, The Louisville Bats, prior to sustaining an injury which precluded anymore future in a professional sports league.

Survivors include two sons, Gary Branson, Muncie and Greg Branson (companion-Richardean McMillan), Columbia, South Carolina; one daughter, Terri Branson Mills, Yorktown; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Linda Swift (husband-Larry), Daleville; three nieces Cathy Joe Lewis Patterson (husband-Ted), Laura O’Brien and Lana Bell, all of Muncie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Nicholas Adam Phillips April 9, 2011; one brother Charles “Bud” Branson Jr. and Sister Norma “Sis” Lewis.
