Jerry W. Kahl, 74, of Bloomington, died Sunday morning at Autumn Hills Alzheimer’s Special Care Center. Born May 26, 1940, in Vincennes, IN, he was the son of Russell and Marjorie Kahl. Jerry served in the US Navy from 1960-1964, and returned to Bloomington to work at the Herald-Telephone, RCA, and for 42 years at the US Postal Office, from which he retired.

A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Saundra (Gobert) Kahl, of Bloomington; his only daughter Valerie Kahl; his granddaughters, Kate Turner and Anna Stephenson; two brothers, Gene (Carol) Kahl and Ty Gilliland; two sisters, Linda (Mark) Fields and Karen Sue (Darrell) Rose; sister-in-law Claudia Hamric and brother-in-law Stephen (Susan) Gobert; 9 nephews and 3 nieces; 8 grandnephews and nieces.

He will be deeply missed by his granddaughters, Katie and Annie, to whom he gave so much love and support. A well-known golf fanatic, seen any day when the flags were waving at the Cascades Golf Course, Jerry was the city champion at every level of the competition.
