Jerry was born on April 2, 1928 in Los Angeles, CA, graduated from Oakland High in 1945 and immediately enlisted in the Navy where he served time on Guam and then on the USS General A. E. Anderson. Just prior to finishing law school and taking the Bar he decided law was not for him. He worked in the bar business for awhile before he journeyed to the 1960 Winter Olympics in Lake Tahoe where he discovered his love for gambling which led to a job dealing casino games for several years. He moved to Oakland, CA to take care of his ailing Mother where he became a joint owner in a neighborhood saloon. Upon her passing, he returned to Lake Tahoe and then landed in Reno, NV to pursue a successful career in the gambling business. In 1998 he joined Sterling Casino Lines in Cape Canaveral.
