Jerry D. Shelton, age 76 of Freeport, IL, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2020 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. He was born March 13, 1944; the son of Ervin and Elvera (Lundquist) Shelton. Jerry married Trudy DeHoet on January 29, 1965; she passed on December 7, 2019.
He had served in the United States Airforce as an airplane mechanic. He worked as an auto mechanic as well as a fork lift operator. Jerry was a very active member of the Bridge Ministry Church in Freeport. He was a jack of all trades and loved to tinker.
He is survived by his children, Michelle (Duane) Johnson of Salem, VA, Jerry (Melissa) Shelton, Jr. of Sunny Side, VA, Jennifer Mannino of Freeport, and Cairn Alonso-Shelton of Boone, IA; 19 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brother, Darrell (Julie) Shelton; and sisters, Karen (Jeff) Shelton-Johnson and Joann Ajifu. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
